Bird Watching
The oasis of Fayoum is one of the most important bird watching locations in Egypt. Birdwatching season is from October to April, when water, agricultural birds, and some desert birds migrate to the abundant oasis. A car can be arranged per 2 guests for transportation to and from the bird watching site for a 2 1/2 hour viewing session. Each guest will receive a pair of binoculars for the duration of the excursion. Read more
Safari
Exploring Egypt’s Western Desert is a must when visiting Fayoum. Enthusiasts can discover the breathtaking terrain via 4X4 treks featuring a specially prepared and locally-inspired tea time deep in the desert at the end of the ride. Wadi El Rayan
A natural depression in the desert since ancient times, Wadi El Rayan offers spectacular sand dunes, an epic landscape and unbelievable rock formations. Wadi El Hitan
Originally an ocean bed, Wadi El Hitan, or Valley of the Whales, is one of the largest open air museums in Egypt. Designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, the valley is home to hundreds of fossils of the earliest species of whales. Read more
Madinet Madi
Situated about 30 kms away from Fayoum, on a small hill guarding its southwestern entrance, is Madinet Madi—City of the past. The city, rich in Ancient Egyptian and Greek history, features Pharaonic temples built during the 12th dynasty’s Amenemhat III & IV with restorations made during the 19th dynasty. Read more
Madawara Mountain
Madawara Mountain (Jebel al-Mudawara) lies on the edge of the Sahara Desert, to the west of Lake Qarun. The mountain is surrounded by sculpted sand dunes and limestone formations. A climb to the peak guarantees wonderful views of the surrounding terrain. Read more
